My name is Susie Kim, and I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Second Language Studies program at Michigan State University. My primary research interest is in the area of language assessment, especially looking at characteristics of second language writing through corpus analysis. I am also interested in language proficiency standards (e.g., CEFR, ACTFL) as well as Korean teaching and learning. These interests have shaped and evolved along with my experiences in assisting College English placement test at Yonsei University, working as a research assistant in the English Language Center Testing Office, and teaching various levels of Korean language courses for the Department of Linguistics and Languages at Michigan State University. In my spare time, I enjoy photography (recently very much into studying and photographing the night sky), watching Major League Baseball (the Tigers and Pirates), and slowly improving my guitar playing.
